Not Yo' Mama's Banana Pudding

I made this for Kelli's Favorite Things party. I'd actually never made it before then, Paula Deen just makes it look oh so very good! And--it lived up to my expectations. It's delicious. Give her a try!

Not Yo' Mama's Banana Pudding
(Paula Deen from Food Network)

2 bags Pepperidge Farm Chessmen cookies
6 to 8 bananas, sliced
2 cups milk
1 (5-ounce) box instant French vanilla pudding
1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened
1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
1 (12-ounce) container frozen whipped topping thawed, or equal amount sweetened whipped cream

Line the bottom of a 13 by 9 by 2-inch dish with 1 bag of cookies and layer bananas on top. In a bowl, combine the milk and pudding mix and blend well using a handheld electric mixer. Using another bowl, combine the cream cheese and condensed milk together and mix until smooth. Fold the whipped topping into the cream cheese mixture. Add the cream cheese mixture to the pudding mixture and stir until well blended. Pour the mixture over the cookies and bananas and cover with the remaining cookies. Refrigerate until ready to serve.

So Stina - help me out. So you don't smash the cookies? You just layer them on the top and the bottom? Whole? It sounds so good! And do you need two bags on Chessman cookies so you can munch on them while makes said banana pudding? Just keep me posted. :)

You put them on whole. I halve the recipe and put it in a 9x9--although I needed more than one bag. This last time I made it, I used generic Walmart cookies--not vanilla wafer ones. I can't remember what they're called, but they're delicious. Although, I almost ran out of cookies again because we ate almost the whole box (especially Austin....).

How appropriate. The generic Walmart cookies are called "Don't Forget..."...
